Rignocell fiber is a renewable thermal insulation material suitable for installation in walls, floors, ceilings, etc. As all renewable materials Rignocell fiber contain locked carbon and have a low thermal conductivity (0.043-0.057 W/(m·K) that makes it a highly effective insulator.
If wood fiber can't be re-used then it can be recycled in the same way as timber or other raw materials. Rignocell fiber is fully biodegradable and thus can be composted.
According to Latvian Building codes (LBN 2022) U value of wall should be 0.23. If thermal conductivity of Rignocell is 0.045 (W/m·K) then wall thickness should be 20 cm (0.045/0.23 = 0.1956 m).
The fire resistance of Rignocell Insulation is rated at Class E, which is the same as for similar thermal insulating materials from renewable's existing in the market. The reaction to fire properties can be improved by adding flame retardants.
